Pororó.... chaga....chaga!!
El Pororó se baila en círculos como un baile de amistad entre los hombres y las mujeres generalmente se agarran de los brazos o se abrazan por los hombros. Proviene de Livingston - Labuga Guatemala y ha existido por más de 130 años. Pororó solo se baila en Guatemala; sin embargo, Indio Dance, que es similar, se observa en Punta Gorda y Seine Bight, Belice. Se celebra el 12 de diciembre - La Virgen de Guadalupe basada en la fe cristiana católica. Hombres y mujeres visten faldas mayas (Gudú). "Vas a ser mi hombre / compañero esta noche" (buguyaba numari arierbule) es la frase comúnmente repetida en garífuna durante la celebración. Gran parte de esta información está de acuerdo con la historia oral. En Puerto Barrios, solo se celebra desde hace 38 años, pero se ha vuelto tan popular que el gimnasio local se llena con miles de participantes y se agrega un segundo día, generalmente el 12 y 13 de diciembre. La dinastía marcial (hermanos Bata Miligi) son los portadores culturales de este evento. También son los músicos que tocan para los bailarines de Pororó.

It comes from Livingston - Labuga Guatemala and it has been around for over 130 years. Pororó is only danced in Guatemala; however, Indio Dance which is similar is observed in Punta Gorda and Seine Bight. It is celebrated on the 12 of December- The Virgin of Guadalupe based on the catholic christian faith. Men and women wear Mayan skirts (Gudu). “You’re going to be my man / partner tonight” (buguyaba numari arierbule) is the phrase commonly repeated in Garifuna throughout the celebration. In Puerto Barrios, it has only been celebrated for 38 years but it has become so popular that the local gymnasium gets packed with thousands of participants and a second day has been added, usually the 12 and 13 of December. The Marcial Dynasty (Bata Miligi brothers) are the cultural bearers of this event. They are also the musicians who play for the Pororó dancers.
